The SPACE Art Gallery proudly presents “Urban Collaboration” by photographer and scientist Frederic Bushman. The images are a visual representation of unwitting collaborations over time, reflecting the efforts of whoever built the wall, the subsequent graffiti artist(s), the natural elements that eroded the paint, and himself, the photographer/digital editor who refined and memorialized the work.
Frederic Bushman is a microbiologist studying the human microbiome, and means of modulating the microbiome to improve human health. The urban world can foster distress and disease, but also provides community that can intervene to help. The goal of the exhibition is to link photographic explorations of the urban world, digital image manipulation/AI, and efforts to improve nutrition for the Philadelphia community.
All of the artist’s proceeds from the sale of these works will be donated to Philabundance, a Philadelphia organization fighting food insecurity, to reflect the community contributions.
