Andy Gill (1956-2020) of Gang of Four at the Hot Club, at the band’s first U.S. concert, 8/17/79. In 2021, Matador Records released a deluxe boxed set, Gang of Four 77-81. Included was a hardbound book with a detailed account of this show and the Go4’s stressful, grueling day (written by Curtis Crowe, of opening act Pylon). The show was delayed when their van got stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel (they were ultimately rescued when Hot Club manager Jack Sigovich drove up in a rental vehicle). This image, as well as one of the South Street shots, appear in the book.
